For January, Meadow Brook students will be learning about Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. This habit teaches students to listen to others without interrupting or blurting out.  They try to understand the other person's point of view, even if it is different from their own.  If you would like to encourage Habit 5 in the home, you can play a game of Simon Says or Telephone and talk about the importance of listening.  You can also have your student look around the home or neighborhood and find someone they can help. Books to help encourage Habit 5 are:  The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, Stellaluna by Janell Cannon, Stand In My Shoes by Bob Sornson or My Mouth is a Volcano by Julia Cook.
