This week we did a fun Christmas challenge in Library that included silly Would You Rather? questions, naming Santa’s reindeer, and singing Jingle Bells with a mouth full of marshmallows. And of course, reading holiday poems and stories!

A Christmas Carol

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

The fifth graders are doing a play called “A Christmas Carol,” and they are working very hard so they can impress their parents when they come to watch (or watch the video). The main character is Ebenezer Scrooge played by Luke. My role is the Ghost of Christmas Past. Something cool about my role is that since I am the Ghost of Christmas Past I get to lead Ebenezer through time and show him some stuff from the past. As a class, we have learned from Ebenezer Scrooge that it is never too late to make changes. Merry Christmas!

This week 2nd Grade performed our Christmas program. They worked so hard and did an amazing job. We are so grateful we were able to sing in person this year! Second graders sang Feliz Navidad, Melekalikimaka, Walking in our Winter Underwear, and I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. We even had our special guest hippo join us!

Ready to Work Elves

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Over the past week or so. Mr.  Haslam’s class has been hard at work applying for a jobs to be one of Santa elf’s. They are excited to see if they are going to be hired. They are even more excited to move to the North Pole to work. Sad thing is when you get paid in candy canes you can’t buy much.

Inside Recess on Inside days.

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Now that the cold weather, snow, and rain is here we sometimes spend mornings and recess in our classrooms.  On inside days our class enjoys building and playing games together. Students build skills that help them work together and play together. The weather never stops our students from having fun!

Readers Theatre

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

The 5th graders are learning about the American Revolution, and today Miss Owen's class did a Readers' Theater presentation of a play called No Taxation Without Representation! In groups, they rehearsed, made their own props, and performed for the class. The play is about how King George made the colonists pay taxes they felt were unfair and how the colonists responded. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun!
