For the last 2 years the resource teachers all over the district have been learning about Multi-sensory math and the 5 math superpowers. The first math superpower is to know how to do is to be able to recognize number patterns without counting. This skill is called subitizing. Students who can look for and find patterns will have so much of an advantage as they go into the later grades if they have this skill. They will be able to do math in their heads more easily.
As a Thanksgiving activity out staff participated in their annual “Turkey Hunt”. Turkeys are placed all over the school for school teams to find. The hunt was on! Congratulations to our SPED team for being the winners!

Miss Jacklin’s class has enjoyed learning about money this week! They’ve been working super hard on modeling different amounts of money in multiple ways. We worked with our math partners today to find different ways to show the amount of items they can find at the store!
4th grade is enjoying having Mrs. Brockbank at our school. This week she joined our class and taught students how to add sound effects to a story based on the word choice and pictures that the story used. They used drums, clackers, bells, sticks, whistles, and many other instruments to create a variety of sounds. It was great to see the students use their creativity to put their own spin on the story!
