Learning How to Add in Kinder

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Our awesome full-day kinders are busy learning how to solve addition story problems using the vocabulary “add” and “join.” We added fish to our pond and then joined and counted all our sweet kinder friends. We sure love our little learners!

Comprehension Strategies

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

One of the areas where students begin to have a hard time and begin to struggle is in word problems and problem-solving. In our classes, we've tackled this by approaching word problems in the same way we try to understand a story.

Music Lessons in Kinder

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Our kindergarten mustangs had the pleasure of getting a mini music lesson from our district music specialist, Mrs. Brockbank, on Friday! She showed us several different Irish instruments, played us a few songs, and even taught us an Irish jig! We are grateful for talented teachers to show us new things from a different culture.

First Grade Chalk

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

First grade got to make chalk last Friday! We learned about where it comes from naturally, as well as, how it’s made in factories, and then we had lots of parents come and help make some for ourselves. When it’s done drying, we are going to try it out and see how it compares to the chalk we can buy at the store.
