Science Stars

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

In science we have been learning about size, distance, and scale in relationship to the stars. We learned that there are stars bigger than the sun, but how those stars look smaller because they are farther away from Earth than the sun is. To understand more fully how distance can affect how small or big something looks, we did an activity. Each group was given three different sized balls and their goal was to make them all look the same size. The students had a lot of fun and did a great job with the activity!

3rd grade makes rock art books!

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

In 3rd grade we had the opportunity to experience a virtual field trip from the Book Arts Treasure Chest! We explored Native American rock art as we “traveled” to Canyonlands National Park. We viewed “The Great Gallery”, an expansive wall panel of rock art. We learned that native tribes have used these walls to tell stories of their everyday lives and beliefs. We consider their rock art as books today. It was so fun using tools to create our own rock art books!

Nebo is Partnering with Tabitha’s Way

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on
Nebo is partnering with Tabitha’s Way for a new event called Read & Feed.

The purpose of this event is to encourage children to continue to read during the summer and to educate families facing food insecurity regarding food resources available to them and their children while they are not attending school. Our goal is to gather 10,000 gently used books that children can take home with them and keep to read during the summer.
