3rd Grade Collaborative Writing

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

We loved learning all about groundhogs during February in our 3rd grade class! First, we watched a slide show and some videos about groundhogs and we took notes on the things that we thought were most important and unique about them. Then, we got together in small groups and read an interesting article about groundhogs. We used highlighters to mark important points that we wanted to write about. We shared with each other all of the information that we learned and then wrote an informative essay about groundhogs. Last, we did a fun groundhog art project to display our writing on!

Meeting Governor Herbert

Fifth grade had the amazing opportunity to go to the State Capitol on Friday, February 21st. We have been learning about U.S. History and the beginning of our U.S. government. It was a great experience to actually walk through the impressive Capitol building. We were able to go to the Supreme Court room, the House of Representatives chambers and the Senate chambers. Definitely the highlight of our trip was meeting Governor Herbert! We got to listen to him speak to us about being a good citizen and doing all we can to learn at school. He was really nice and shook our hands too!
