Reading Round up Begins

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

The Reading Round Up begins today! All students will bring home a packet with information about the fundraiser. Each year the school and PTA each hold one fundraiser. We are excited that it is time for our annual literacy round up in which we helped promote literacy to collect money for our instructional library and purchase technology for our classrooms. The first step is to get pledges. The paper on the envelope explains the process. Students will have the opportunity to collect pledges.

What a Delayed Start looks like

Have you ever wondered what a delayed start day looks like? Fewer friends, inside recess, and the learning continues! Mrs. Ware’s class learned about strategies to add bigger numbers, narrative writing, verbs, vowel pairs, and context clues!

Pumpkin Jack

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

After Halloween, we read the book, Pumpkin Jack, by Will Hubbell. A little boy sets his left over Jack-O-Lantern out in the garden and watches it change as the weeks go by. By Spring, a new pumpkin plant begins to grow! We decided to start our own Pumpkin Jack in a jar in the library, and students have been checking on it each week to observe the changes. We are all interested (and maybe a bit disgusted) to see how rotten it’s getting! We really hope to see a little pumpkin sprout poke up before school lets out in May!

Fun in P.E

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

PE has been busy having fun. We’ve been playing so many fun games and learning that pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones has big rewards both in getting healthy and strong as well as finding out that it can be fun. We’ve been playing games that work on team work as well as games that allow everyone to work at their own pace. And we’re currently training for an upcoming fitness challenge that all the kids seem excited about. Our Meadow Brook Mustangs are such a fun and energetic group of kids!
