Kindergarten Wall of Fame

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Fri, 12/02/2022 - 21:00

Our little learners in kindergarten are working hard to learn all their capital and lower case letters, sounds, and numbers 1-20 by Christmas. We celebrate them when they pass off each goal by adding their names to our classroom "wall of fame" and officially induct them into our letters, sounds, or numbers club. It can be a lot of work, but they are highly motivated and excited when they accomplish this goal! We are so proud of them and we are excited to keep adding more little learners to our club. We love our kinders!

Resource Teachers are Training

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Mon, 11/28/2022 - 16:11

For the last 2 years the resource teachers all over the district have been learning about Multi-sensory math and the 5 math superpowers. The first math superpower is  to know how to do is to be able to recognize number patterns without counting. This skill is called subitizing. Students who can look for and find patterns will have so much of an advantage as they go into the later grades if they have this skill. They will be able to do math in their heads more easily. Algebra, statistics, and problem solving will be so much more accessible if they are able to find, use and make patterns.

Miss Jacklin’s class has enjoyed learning about money this week! They’ve been working super hard on modeling different amounts of money in multiple ways. We worked with our math partners today to find different ways to show the amount of items they can find at the store!
