Third Grade Field Trip
Last week the 3rd graders got to go on a field trip to Bridal Veil Falls on a nature walk! Students got to collect things along the way that were interesting to them. The 3rd graders had a blast and found some pretty awesome stuff!
Hats Matter
In 2nd grade we are learning the properties of matter. Sometimes matter is soft, stiff, or water absorbent. Our students were ‘stranded on an island’ and needed to make a hat that could absorb sweat and keep the sun off. But they only had the packaging from their lunch. Paper towels to absorb the sweat. More stuff material for the shade. They did an awesome job!
Forces of Motion
This week kindergarteners are getting an introduction to forces and motions talking about terms like push and pull. A science outreach program called Discovery Gateway came to Meadow Brook to teach more about this concept. Students were able to investigate and demonstrate their learning by doing hands on activities.
The Three Billy Goats Gruff
First grade was introduced to the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We talked about the setting and made a map of the setting. We also practiced our retelling skills by retelling The Three Billy Goats Gruff using the key details and acting it out with our puppets.
Story Champs
In speech this week, our students have been working very hard on telling complete stories with appropriate grammar. We love using the "Story Champs" program to achieve this. Our story picture cards, icons, and color-coded popsicle sticks help students remember to include the main parts of a story: character, setting, problem, feeling, action, conclusion, and end feeling. We are so proud of our students who are learning to tell/retell stories anywhere from personal narratives to academic literature like pros!
4th Grade Science
4th graders love science! We have spent time this quarter learning about structures and functions found in Utah's environment to keep plants and animals alive. Each group in Mrs. Anderson's class got to deepen their understanding about one of the five animal groups and learn more about their adaptations
Keyboard Champions
Celebrating our remarkable third-grade keyboarding champions of the week! All third grade students have started to work on typing. Students have to show correct typing position, and correct finger placement as they learn the keys. These young learners have shown such an excitement for keyboarding!
Representing Numbers
In 2nd grade students have been working on different ways to represent numbers! One of those ways is with number blocks and showing the value of digits!
