Kindergarten students celebrated 100 days of school this week! Their teachers got in on the fun, too! They looked amazing for their age. Everyone celebrated with snacks, games, activites, and reading. It was a fun day!
We love our second grade students! They are working hard in class, being good friends, and making great decisions! We appreciate their great examples! Congratulations: Preston, Abraham, Brennon, Camryn, Amy, Justus, Colbie, Morgan (not pictured), Makenna, Koree, Luna, and Ronin.
We also want to give a shout out to all of our Buckle winners. Thanks for practicing those math facts!!
We've been in school for 100 days! But.... who's counting anyway? The first and second grade students are counting!! We had such a great day celebrating with games, snacks, math activities, writing activities, and even a little dress up. And, our first grade teachers and their students looked like some amazing 100-year-olds!
Every Thursday, Mrs. Hancock's 4th graders visit their buddies in Miss Packard's 1st grade class. It's definitely a highlight of the week! Students take turns reading stories to and with each other, and they also enjoy just getting to know one another. We're already looking forward to next Thursday!
For February, Meadow Brook students will be learning about Habit 6: Synergyze. This habit teaches the students the importance of getting along with others and working in groups. The students will learn if they work as a team, they can get more done and come up with better solutions than they could alone. Synergy is a valuable habit that can be used in many aspects of our lives: the home, school, community, workplace, teams, and clubs, to name a few. If you would like to encourage Habit 6 in the home you can organize, plan, and implement a family service project.
4th grade just wrapped up their science unit on soil. We reviewed by making an edible soil profile, complete with 3 layers of soil (bedrock, subsoil, and topsoil) and different things you'd find in the layers. Plants and roots help slow erosion, and creatures like worms add to the organic material that gives topsoil its rich nutrients. We had a blast, and the kids loved "eating dirt!"
Congratulations to our 5th Grade Students of the Month. We have some amazing 5th graders that are making awesome choices!!
We are so proud of our 2nd graders. They have such amazing behavior and work really hard to make great choices. This week we had a game day to celebrate all of our awesome 2nd graders!!
After learning about heat transfer, seasonal change, and the long-term effects of decreasing temperature on plant and animal life, sixth graders at Meadow Brook Elementary were ready to put their knowledge to good use. They boarded space ships at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center and were soon on their way to save the Enooks, an alien race on a distant planet. It took a lot of teamwork, quick thinking, and precise communication, but the students were finally able to complete their mission and return to earth. “This was one of my favorite field trips ever!
