4th grade inside recess fun

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

The state of Utah provided money for each teacher in Utah willing to write a grant. In the grant teachers needed to describe what supplies they needed in their classroom. I wrote a grant asking for inside recess supplies. When the air quality isn't good enough or it's too cold to go outside we have to stay inside for recess. All kids need to run around and get some fresh air, but that isn't always possible. In the past whenever we had to stay inside my students have dreaded it. With our new supplies students have enjoyed inside recess a lot more.

Third grade has the “Force”

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Our third graders are loving learning fun things in Science with our "Force affects motion" unit! We loved exploring non-contact forces-(static and magnetic). We had so much fun applying our knowledge about these forces with soda can races! Each pair of students charged their balloons with static electricity by rubbing them on their heads, and then pushed or pulled their cans with their balloons. Pairs worked hard to get their soda cans to roll across the table or carpet and then we competed in soda can races! We love Science!

Coding in first grade

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

We are so excited to learn to code!  Thanks to a wonderful grant, Ms. Craner's class received over 12 coding robots and other games to help us learn about computer science and coding.  We can't wait to start! Yippee!

Instrument families

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Meadow Brook students have been learning about the different instrument families.  I was able to bring a variety of instruments that they were able to "test out".  Also, Mr. Mann did a mini performance on the banjo, for his 4th grade class. So grateful to have a talented staff here at Meadow Brook!

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

February 1st was the 100th day of school for everyone. But for 5th grade it was our 1000th day of school! We have been in school for a total of 1000 days since kindergarten. What an amazing milestone! We got to celebrate with a few fun activities. Look at all we've learned these last 1000 days!
