Dear Parent/Guardian:

Like you, we are just learning that Governor Gary R. Herbert, State Superintendent Syd Dickson, and the Utah State Board of Education “announced today that Utah’s K-12 public schools will extend their dismissal [soft closure] through Friday, May 1st.”  Their press release further stated that they will “continue to evaluate the situation to make a determination about the remaining school year” and that:

School Dismissal

Mustangs,

As you have likely heard, today the governor's office dismissed school for the next two weeks, beginning on Monday, March 16th. This is a big change from the direction given at yesterday's press conference. This is a dynamic, constantly evolving situation that we are navigating the best we can.

I am currently at the district office attending meetings where decisions are in progress about what this will look like for all of us.

2nd grade has been learning about matter. Matter can be in a solid, liquid, or a gas. It can also change into a solid, liquid, or gas. To celebrate their awesome behavior in specialties, 2nd graders were able to learn how play dough is made and connect it to matter!

Ecosystems

In Mrs. Gregory’s class we’ve been learning about ecosystems. We learned about how species interact within ecosystems. An example of this is mutualism where both species benefit, also known as a win-win situation. We also learned about food chains in an ecosystem. We learned that food chains show the transfer of ENERGY. We are also participating in March Mammal Madness, a tournament like March Madness in basketball but with animals instead of basketball teams.
