The Science of Weather
In science, we've been learning about the seasons and weather. We did an experiment to help us understand why it rains. Science Rules!

Our fabulous Drama Coach, Mrs. Bean came in and taught our fourth graders a peer teaching strategy called, "Crazy Professor". The kids had a great time using gestures, facial expressions and words to teach each other about the difference between spiders and insects. They were excellent teachers and eager students! Thank Mrs. Bean!
In Mrs. Gregory’s science class we were learning about the inaccuracy of photos of the Solar System. One day we were using Play-Doh to show the sizes of the planets. We learned that Jupiter and Saturn are more than half of all the planets masses combined. We also learned that the inner planets of the solar system are really really small compared to the other planets. Our Play-Doh balls got so small we weren’t able to finish following all the directions because it was basically impossible. We learned that Juipiter is the biggest planet, and Mercury is the smallest planet.
Tylene Shelley, Meadow Brook Elementary's nurse, received the Nebo PEAK award on November 13th at board meeting. She was nominated by Heather Balli.
We loved having Thanksgiving Point come to our 3rd grade classes to teach us all about Science! We spent time talking about living, non living, and once living things. Using a magnifying glass, we each looked closely at living organisms. It was so cool to see them up closely! After that, we each were given tulip bulbs to cut apart and look closely at. How interesting they were! Everything looks amazing close up with a magnifying glass! Last, we put together a terrarium to keep in our room with a few living things.
Today in Ms. Craner's class we learned about our veteran's through a poem. We then colored cards for them. We have been learning to write with our partners, so today we wrote a letter to a Veteran with our partner. As partner's we decide on our sentences together and then each take turns writing one word at a time. WE LOVE OUR VETERAN'S AND ARE GRATEFUL FOR THEIR SERVICE.
