In First Grade our students have been learning that pronouns replace nouns.  To help them practice this skill, our students participated in a fun QR code review activity that used characters from our current Journeys story.  Some students decided to read the sentences on their own and some decided to use the qr codes to have the sentences read to them using the iPads.  Each student was able to choose the best way for them and then fill in their answer sheet.  After this they participated in another practice activity as teams to find the correct pronoun for dif

Literacy Week

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Kindergarten had a wonderful time celebrating Literacy Week. Fun was had dressing up and going to the Reading Round-Up. Student Council members came to our classes and read Dr. Seuss books. We also loved reading in our classrooms for Parent and Pastries and our class read-a-thons. Kindergarten is an exciting year for children as they begin to experience the world of reading independently.

Ms. Balli Teaches 3rd Graders About Mongolia

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

We have loved learning about cultures around the world in 3rd grade. This week as we wrapped up our final culture presentations, it was a special treat to learn about Mongolia from Ms. Balli. We learned how to say "thank you" and the homes that Mongolians live in. We learned about how different their lives are from ours. We even learned that Mongolian camels have two humps instead of one. We are excited to start practicing for our program this Spring where we will share many facts that we have learned!

Defying Gravity

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Students in Mrs.Oropeza's class experimented with gravity. They found ways to work with gravity and defy gravity by dropping parachute men in the air. Students learned that the heavier an object becomes the quicker it hits the ground. They also learned that there are things that defy gravity!
