On Halloween in Ms. Farnsworth class, the students worked hard on a stem challenge researched by our amazing Mrs. Halls. Each group of 3-4 students had 6 boxes of gummy dots and as many toothpicks as they wanted. Their goal was to build the tallest tower that could stand on its own. I gave them 20 minutes to work as a team to design and build this tower. When the time was up, we measured it!! You will have to ask the students who won... We will never tell! 🤫

Energy is all around us—and the 4th graders in Mrs. Albrecht's class are proving it! ⚡️ Through hands-on experiments, students learned that food gives our bodies energy just like fuel powers a car. They built Twist-O-Matic rides that spin when rubber bands release stored energy, then designed marble roller coasters to see how height and motion work together. 🎢 These scientists are discovering that learning about energy can be energizing! 💥

In kindergarten we’ve been learning all about our shapes! The kids have loved getting to see shapes all around us and getting to make shapes in many different ways!

Halloween at Meadow Brook was everything we could have imagined and more!! We hope you have a safe and VERY sweet Halloween weekend!

Tomorrow is about to be SPOOKTACULAR!! Join us and see all the BOO-tiful costumes! We will have an in-person parade that you can come to or you can join us on Facebook Live to see your child. In music this week, we've been enjoying some spooky blacklight effects! We've used drumsticks, tambourines, and scarves that glow beautifully under the light. Singing “Black and Gold” with different instruments has helped solidify the rhythm and beats!

Mrs. Oman’s class is celebrating Red Ribbon Week in comfy pajama style yesterday! We’re saying no to drugs and having fun together!

Mr. Russell’s class worked hard to show kindness, follow directions, and make positive choices all week. As a reward for their amazing behavior, the class got to do a fun hands-on science project — building their own volcano!

It's Red Ribbon Week here at Meadow Brook and we are so excited!! Each day will have a theme with a suggestion for something fun to wear. We are excited to see our Mustangs show their school spirit as we pledge to a drug free life!

Our little learners are soaking up the crisp autumn air and golden sunshine! From crunching leaves to endless giggles, outdoor play is the best way to enjoy these beautiful fall days. 🍃💛

As October comes to an end, Halloween excitement is in the air! The preschoolers are buzzing with ideas about what to dress up as—superheroes are a big favorite! Their imaginations are incredible, even down to details like painting their characters’ toenails! 🤣

The library is the best place to learn about new books as well as relax and dive deep into their books!

At the beginning of the month, a few teachers from Meadow Brook had the opportunity to attend a Professional Learning Communities (PLC) conference in Salt Lake City.
The conference focused on ways to strengthen collaboration—both among teachers and with students—to support learning for everyone.
Ms. Farnsworth’s biggest takeaway was the power of the word all.
She shared, “The goal is that all students reach proficiency, all teachers support the vision, all staff members take responsibility for student success, and all teammates collaborate, learn, and use student data to achieve growth.”
Mrs. Anderson also reflected on what she learned, saying, “Schools are built for students to learn at high levels. Someone said, ‘Ideas don’t help kids—actions do.’ I’m excited to find ways to put these ideas into action to strengthen my teaching and help students succeed.”
Learning starts with teachers, and this experience gave us a wonderful chance to grow and refine our practice. We’re excited to bring back what we learned and continue collaborating with the amazing Meadow Brook faculty to help every student thrive.

We have been learning about ancient Asian civilizations in second grade! While studying ancient China, we learned about Chinese New Year. We made dragons similar to those that parade through the streets during the celebrations in China!

First grade had a fantastic week last week! We kicked things off with Chalk the Block on Monday, filling our sidewalks with creativity. In math, students worked hard on adding and subtracting with missing numbers and had a blast playing math bingo to support their learning. In reading, we explored the story elements of a fairy tale by acting out Tom Thumb. What a week of fun and learning!

We've been having an amazing time learning how to be great kinder kids in Mrs. Neilson's classes this year!

Recess just got even more fun in first grade! Our students are learning classic games like jump rope, four square, and hopscotch. It’s been wonderful watching them laugh, play, and build social skills together. We’re excited to continue these activities throughout the year and see their friendships and playground skills grow even more.
