2nd Grade Super Stars for March

Submitted by lena.bird on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 17:36

We have such amazing 2nd grade students.  They all do great things every day!  This month, we want to recognize our Students of the Month for being hard workers and kind friends.  They are Trinity, Kaylie, Isaac, Charlotte, Jonny, Jacob, Ellie, Linaya, Gabriel, and Kiji.

We were also super excited to have a visit from Cowboy Pitcher today.  He came to show off his Hat and Belt Buckle and congratulate those students who have earned their fast fact buckles this month.  Great job 2nd graders.  Keep practicing those math facts and Yee Haw!

Second graders spent the 3rd term learning all about different subjects in science.  We learned all about gravity, objects in the night sky, the states of matter, and rocks.  We participated in fun experiments and activities to help us learn.  Everyone had a great time!

The Reasons for the Seasons

Submitted by lena.bird on Wed, 03/22/2017 - 16:54
In our class we learned about seasonal changes and what causes the seasons. Part of the seasons session was about how much sunlight each one gets, how much daytime each season gets, and why it’s colder in winter than summer. Why is it colder in winter than in summer? It is because of the earth’s tilt and revolution. The earth's tilt is 23.5 degrees. Students in our class got to experiment how long days were in certain seasons and how much heat/daylight they get.

3rd Grade Celebrates Culture

Submitted by lena.bird on Tue, 03/21/2017 - 16:08

Every month our 3rd graders have an opportunity to learn about cultures from around the world. Parents and grandparents volunteer to come and share things about a country they are from or have visited. We have loved having this awesome opportunity each month to learn about people from other countries and how they live their lives. Here is a video of our past culture day experiences. A big thank you to all of our volunteers who planned such great presentations to share with us! We can't wait to hear about new countries for March, April, & May!

Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw

Submitted by lena.bird on Wed, 03/15/2017 - 15:34

For March, Meadow Brook students learned about Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw. This habit teaches students to find balance between their heart, mind, body, and soul.  We find balance in our body through eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep.  We help our heart by spending time with friends and family.  We help our soul through serving others.  And we help our mind through learning new things, in all different settings.  If you would like to encourage Habit 7 in the home, you can set a goal as a family to participate in a local fun run, plan a day to visit family or friends, or you c

February was a fantastic month for our grade! We had so many students pass off their math facts! At our Buckles assembly, not only did we recognize those that have been passing off their math facts, but also a few stellar stars that have gone above and beyond the mark! From Mrs.

Mrs. Peterson's class has the perfect recipe for Shape Pizza! After learning about different shapes, everyone was able to make their very own Shape Pizza. They picked their own shapes, and created a most delicious pizza! If you're lucky, they might just share their secret recipe with you!
