6th Grade is SOARING to New Heights

Submitted by lena.bird on

The Meadow Brook Elementary 6th grade engineers were hard at work this week designing and building hot air balloons. On the first day, we picked our teams and decided what colors of tissue paper to use and what shape to make the hot air balloons. Then  teams began gluing their balloons together. While gluing, some tissue paper ripped and had to be fixed.

On day two, we finished gluing our balloons together and tested our balloons for holes and rips.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Submitted by lena.bird on

This is a little late, but Meadow Brook Elementary is open!  On Monday August 22, Dean Rowley from the Nebo School Board helped Meadow Brook Students cut the ribbon, officially opening our school doors!  We were excited to have students and their families in attendance, as well as teachers and staff at Meadow Brook, Rick Nielsen our superintendent, members of the community, and members of the school board.  Thank you everyone who worked so hard to get our school up and running!  Go Mustangs!

First Week Assembly

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

On Friday we had an assembly for Meadow Brook students to get to know the teachers and staff.  We played "2 Truths and 1 Lie."  Two students from each class listened to three statements and had to decide which statement was the lie about their teacher.  If the students got it correct, they earned a point for the student body.  If they got it wrong, the teachers received a point.  It was a close game, but the teachers made it tricky and came out on top!

Second grade teachers and students made a “Recipe for Success” this week.  Ingredients included: positive attitude, hard work, kindness, teamwork, persistence, enthusiasm, and pride.  We're thrilled to start this successful school year with new friendships and goals.

Sixth Grade Teacher - Superstar Mrs. James

Submitted by ryan.pitcher on

My name is Jennifer James, and I am thrilled to be teaching sixth grade at Meadow Brook this year. I truly believe that I have the best job in the world, and I love learning and making memories with my students.

I have six children (four of whom have now successfully completed sixth grade), and I enjoyed being able to take time off from my teaching career to stay home with them. After my lengthy “mommy retirement” I taught second grade for two years before moving up to sixth grade last year.

Another amazing 5th grade teacher - Mrs. Amundson

Hi! I’m Gracie Amundson, but my students usually call me Mrs. A. I’m not from Utah, but home is not too far away! I’m from a little town in Colorado called Colorado Springs. Just like most of you, I grew up with a view of the mountains and I love being outdoors. I love hiking, playing tennis, and occasionally running. I smile a lot, because life is awesome! I just got married last March to a studly man named Brady, whom I met at a school assembly the year before.

My name is Marina Terry. I have been teaching for 8 years, and have loved every minute of it! I love the chance I have to spend my day with students and watch them learn and grow.
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We enjoy time outdoors and traveling. I also love to spend quiet time at home reading or watching movies.
