The students who participate in the Smart Arts after school program were working hard yesterday on their scenery sketches!
The second grade students at Meadow Brook were so lucky to spend the day at Jaker's pumpkin patch on October 13. We had fun in the corn pit, in the hay mazes, climbing, and seeing the animals. Some of us even went on a tractor ride. Before coming back to the school, each student got to pick out the perfect pumpkin. It was a fun day!
At Camp Floyd, we learned a lot about how the people in the military survived in 1857. We learned how fast the army men could load their muskets and cock them (20 sec). But our director loaded his musket slowly so we could see how they did it. He also fired it! This camp is a military camp, so instead of raising our hands, the director had us stand up and salute until he saluted back. I guess that was just as normal as raising our hands in a military camp, but it was pretty weird to us!
For October, the school will be working on Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. On Friday, the students learned the importance of having a plan and setting goals. A person that 'begins with the end in mind' is always prepared and thinks about the choices they make and how those choices influence their life. If you would like to encourage the 7 Habits in your home, this month you can talk to your kids about what career they would like when they grow up.
