Making Fossils

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Tue, 11/07/2023 - 07:31

In 4th grade we have been learning about ancient animals and how they compare to their modern day counterparts. Students have been studying and learning about fossils and how they teach us about the past. During the unit students were given the opportunity to make an impression fossil and they had a lot of fun doing it!

Expanding Expression Tool

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Tue, 11/07/2023 - 05:55

Expanding Expression Tool (EET) is used often in speech to help with describing, increasing vocabulary, and conceptualizing language in a more abstract way. With Thanksgiving fast approaching, we have been reading “Turkey Trouble”, then playing a bean bag toss on a giant slice of pizza to describe various nouns in the story using EET. Students like to call using EET “taco speech” because of how it is represented in the speech room.

3rd Grade Culture Day

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Mon, 11/06/2023 - 19:41

In 3rd grade we are learning all about Cultures of the world. We have the awesome opportunity each month to have volunteers come and talk to us about a country/culture they love! We loved learning so far about Albania, Mongolia, Mexico, and Canada! It is fun exploring these countries’ different languages, home and school life, holidays, traditions, and unique foods. Thanks so much for coming and teaching us!

Community Helpers

Submitted by megan.oropeza on Mon, 11/06/2023 - 12:46

Kindergarten has been learning all about community helpers. Today we had the pleasure to meet Firefighter Jake! He walked us through all his equipment and how it keeps him safe. We also were lucky enough to meet the fire station dog, Arson! He showed us how to stop drop and roll! Thank you fire fighter Jake!
