Thank you Springville Library for bringing Piggie and Elephant to Cherry Creek to celebrate National Library Week. The kids loved seeing you and visiting with you. It was fun to have you here.#springvillelibrary

The Friday before Spring Break was a busy day at Cherry Creek. We had a Victory assembly to find out who the Top Crocs and the Leaders of the Month were for March. The winners of the Math March Madness Multiplication Contest were also announced and joined the Top Crocs and Leaders of the Month in the Victory Lap. Congratulations to all!

Mrs. Darrington’s chair is in demand again! This week, a 4th grader in Mrs. Deardeuff’s class and a 2nd Grader in Mrs. Hardman’s class, turned in their hard earned Croc Cash for Mrs. Darrington’s comfy chair. What a great way to spend a school day!

Kinders are on a roll. A second Kinder, in a week, made the Impossible Possible. A kindergarten student in Mrs. Bergera’s class made the Impossible Shot this morning. Congratulations!

1st Grade was treated with a special story time on Friday. Tova Evansens grandpa is a professional storyteller and came to tell the first graders stories about his childhood.

This week, Mrs. Nielson’s 5th Grade Class takes back the Spirit Day Trophy with 96% of the class wearing RED or Cherry Creek attire. Congratulations!

This week, the Elite 8 in the Math March Madness Multiplication Contest took another qualifying test. These students advanced to the Final Four and will take their final test next week to see who the Math March Madness Champion is for their grade level. The winners will be announced at the Victory Assembly next Friday.

Last week, the Elite 8 were announced for the Math March Madness Math Competition. A few of the 4th Graders were absent when the picture was taken. Tomorrow, the Final 4 picture will be posted.

How did she do it?? This week, a Kindergarten student in Mrs. Mitchell’s class made the Impossible Shot! Congratulations!

A 2nd Grader and a 4th Grader used their Croc Cash to buy Mrs. Darrington’s chair. Besides getting wall balls, Mrs. Darrington’s chair seems to be a popular item to save up for.

Just a reminder: Wednesday, March 19th is a half day, with school ending at noon so that Teachers can attend a Development Course.

Mrs. Brockbank, our district Arts Integration Coach, came to Cherry Creek in her kilt and played an Irish tune for St. Patrick’s Day. She taught our Crocs a quick Irish jig to go along with the song she played on her bagpipes. What a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

We have a new winner! Mrs. Golding’s 1st Grade Class takes the Spirit Day Trophy this week, with 93% of the class wearing RED or Cherry Creek attire. Congratulations!

Kindergarten just finished up a CKLA Knowledge unit on Colonial Towns and Townspeople. A big focus was on learning the different trades and skills that were a normal and necessary part of life in Colonial Times. Here are some photos of our Culminating Activity. Students rotated between four stations that highlighted important Colonial skills: carpentry (hammer, screwdriver, level), butter-making, miller (grinding flour, wheat berry sensory bins), and tailor/weaver (sewing and weaving). Thank you to parent helpers who came to assist and also an amazing 5th grade butter-churning expert.

To wrap up Literacy Week, the 2nd Graders had some special guest speakers . They had Graham Thorpe’s author grandma, Jennifer Beckstrand, come and talk to them about writing. And Asher Evenson‘s grandpa, Randy Evensen, told them a fabulously fun story as a professional storyteller.
Great fun in 2nd grade today!

A Big Cherry Creek Shoutout to the Springville Police and Fire Department. Springville Officers and Firemen came on Friday to read with Crocs to end our Literacy Week. Thank you to Springville PD and Fire Department for being great examples of good leaders in the community and showing us how important reading is.

Mrs. Utt found some more kids having SNOW much fun during lunch recess.

There haven’t been many days this year that there’s been a lot of snow in the field. Mrs. Thornton shared a picture of students having fun, making a huge snowball. Snow much fun!

Mrs. Nielson’s class is on a roll! They took the Spirit Day Trophy again. Congratulations!
