Pumpkin Phenomena in 3rd Grade
Third graders in Mrs. Glenn’s class explored the phenomena that perhaps bigger pumpkins would have more seeds inside of them. We took data and made hypotheses about what we thought. Then, we took 4 pumpkins of various sizes and counted the seeds inside. We found that the biggest pumpkin had the least amount of seeds and the smallest pumpkin had the most seeds! But the other two middle sized pumpkins did not follow that pattern. We decided that perhaps the size of the pumpkin doesn’t determine the number of seeds inside.
Fun in PE
We’ve been having so much fun in PE. The kids have been loving being back to school, back to the gym and back to playing fun games. To name a few we’ve played star wars, ninja turtles, guardians of the galaxy, Space jam, among us, frozen and have had fun doing fun fitness challenges.
Rattle of Bones
In second grade we are getting ready for Halloween and learning grammar. Students learn all about collective nouns and explored different collective noun names!
5th grade Matter
The past couple of weeks in 5th grade, we have been studying the properties of matter. In the last week, we have done several experiments. The most recent experiment is determining how an acid affects a penny. Each day, students have been adding a bit more vinegar to the surface of their penny. They record their observations each day in their science notebooks. It has been fun to explore the properties of matter together!
