Ready to Work Elves

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Over the past week or so. Mr.  Haslam’s class has been hard at work applying for a jobs to be one of Santa elf’s. They are excited to see if they are going to be hired. They are even more excited to move to the North Pole to work. Sad thing is when you get paid in candy canes you can’t buy much.

Fun with Mrs.Brockbank

We have loved having Mrs. Brockbank at our school to help us integrate music into other subjects. During this lesson, we were practicing summarizing a text to a fun beat with plastic cups!

Inside Recess on Inside days.

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Now that the cold weather, snow, and rain is here we sometimes spend mornings and recess in our classrooms.  On inside days our class enjoys building and playing games together. Students build skills that help them work together and play together. The weather never stops our students from having fun!

Readers Theatre

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

The 5th graders are learning about the American Revolution, and today Miss Owen's class did a Readers' Theater presentation of a play called No Taxation Without Representation! In groups, they rehearsed, made their own props, and performed for the class. The play is about how King George made the colonists pay taxes they felt were unfair and how the colonists responded. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun!

Flashlight Reading in Fourth Grade

Submitted by megan.oropeza on

Reading is always fun — but especially when you get to use a flashlight :) I have been impressed by my student’s taste in good books this year! Many of them choose challenging selections that push their reading to the next level. We have also recently had an uptick in the amount of nonfiction texts checked out from our classroom library! We’re readers for life!
