Paradise in 3rd Grade

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

One of our favorite parts of 3rd grade is studying different cultures in our social studies unit. We love having parents come and share about different cultures they have experienced. One culture we learned about recently is Hawaii. We learned about the lifestyle in Hawaii and even got to see how they crack open coconuts. Now we're just wishing we could travel to Hawaii for a class field trip!

Mrs. Oman's Angry Birds

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Mrs. Oman’s Class is learning about verbs. We watched Angry Birds and identified many of the verbs that the characters were doing in the clip. Then, we wrote sentences using past and present tense verbs about our own Angry Birds. Last, each child used a new medium in art - pastels- to create his/her angry bird character.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Kadish's class are learning how to compare numbers using the terms greater than, less than, and equal. To practice this, we played a fun game with partners.

Christmas in the Library

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Holidays are so fun in the library! In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we enjoyed learning about two famous New York City traditions: the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. We first read Balloons Over Broadway, about the puppeteer who invented the giant balloons in the Macy's parade. We also watched a short compilation video of last year's balloons, and kids loved seeing their favorite characters march across the screen.
