Mr. Haslam‘s class is Mobilized with activity this month. One of The latest activities the students have engaged in, is writing letters to their commanding officer, Ms. Balli. Even Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker got in on the action. As the students hone in on their writing skills, they continue to fight in the battle of good versus evil. The force is strong with these little Padawan’s. Bright sun‘s parents, and may the Force be with you.
In computers we learned parts of the computer and how a computer works. We had a chance to look inside of a real computer and see how everything is connected.
Students have been working hard on having good behavior in the library in order to earn a maker-space day! There were many different activities they could choose from, and they had a great time working together building and creating.
First grade is learning that good scientists observe, record and question to get a better understanding! Like good scientists we created an experiment called Elephant Toothpaste to practice our skills. They were able to observe the reaction of the ingredients. They are able to record and time how long their toothpaste erupted, and create questions to understand what was happening. Plus we had a lot of fun!
In 5th grade, we have been learning about the states of matter. We learned about solids, liquids, and gases, and we did an experiment where we could see this at work! We put cups of water inside Ziploc bags, and the next day, we could see condensation in the bag from where the water had evaporated! We love science!
Mrs.Graves is our new head secretary. Mrs.Graves has been apart of the Meadow Brook family as one of our secretaries for the past 4 years. She is a bright and welcoming person who brings joy to our school. We look forward to having her as our head secretary.
One of the most wonderful parts of Meadow Brook is our amazing secretaries. They are the face of our school. Mrs.Finlinson has been the first person many people see as they walk into our school. She is often the first smile of someone’s day. She was the person parents first came to when they needed help. She was who students went to when they needed ice or a band aid. She was who many teachers went to for friendship, motherly advice and someone to simply brighten your day. We are so excited for her as she is retiring.
Students in third grade wrote an autobiography poem, and are making their artwork! We have been learning about pop art. Students are loving the ability to be creative with their art and writing!
