Learning about Utah's Heritage

Fourth graders were able to go on a Field Trip to This is the Place Heritage Park this week. They learned about pioneer travel, saw historic buildings, and discovered how Utahns once lived. We took a train tour, learned about the Pony Express, we also experienced school in a one-room schoolhouse, and even got to pull our own handcarts. Mrs. Anderson's 4th-grade class loved this experience and can't wait to learn more about Utah's Heritage!

Our kindergarten class has enjoyed many guest teachers this school year and today we had one of our favorites! We have been learning about fairy tales this week and Mrs. Kimball (our district dance specialist) helped us incorporate dance and movement into the story of Rapunzel. Your little learners stretched tall like towers, tangled around like hair, and explored the beginning, middle, and end of the story through movement. It was so much fun! 

Mrs. Peterson's first grade class has been learning reading comprehension skills and learning to understand what we are reading. Today we were able to read a story then dance and move through the story to get a better understanding of what we read! 

It was a week of fun! We all did a positive art project. Everyone in Mrs. Irwin's class chose a positive quote to put on our poster. We wrote the words in creative letters. We then got to paint the background. We wanted to motivate all those that walked by our classroom. Our posters all turned out creative and unique.

Mrs.Oman’s class made shapes with elastics and their bodies and composite shapes with a friend. Learning is more fun and memorable with movement. Thanks Mrs. Rachel our District Dance specialist  for guiding this activity! 

In kindergarten, we are having fun learning about subtraction! We used one of our favorite tools…play doh! We played play doh smash to practice our new skill. We started with 6 balls of play doh, rolled a dice, then smashed that many balls. However many were left intact was our answer. So fun! 

First grade created art based off of the book, The dot, by Peter Reynolds’s. They started their masterpieces with just a dot on the page.
