Adding a little drama to phonics!
Mrs. Peterson's 1st-grade class have been learning about silent e. The students have been picking out masks and being sneaky and silent to demonstrate how silent e affects vowels in a word. It is always fun to add drama to your lessons and learning.

Acting Out in the Library
This week during library time, we learned how fun it can be to act out favorite picture books. Younger classes acted out 10 Fat Turkeys, by Tony Johnston, and enjoyed jumping off “the fence” when it was their turn. Older classes performed a reader’s theater of the book Turk and Runt: A Thanksgiving Comedy, by Lisa Wheeler. Some students were the readers, and did a great job using strong voices and reading their parts with expression.
