Mrs. Simpson's Class Works as a Team!

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

This week my class learned how to work as a team with our phenomenal counselor, Mr. Ledesma. He asked them to build the largest rocket ship in their table groups. Once they were done they talked about what made working in a team easy and what made it hard. Finally they talked about what they would do differently to work better as a team the next time they had the opportunity. The students shared some great ideas and really understand what it takes to work together!

First Grade Foley Artists

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

This year in science for First Grade we get to learn about sound! We learned about what makes sound and then using sound to communicate. To help us communicate with sound professional sound engineer, Owen Peterson MPSE, came into Mrs. Peterson’s class to teach them about using sound to communicate in movies. Mrs. Peterson’s students transformed into foley artists and learned how to replace all the sound for a short cartoon film. Thank you to Blender for allowing us to use their animation to learn about sound! Here is a link to Mrs.

5th Graders Working Together

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Mrs. Brown's class had the opportunity to work on teamwork, collaboration, and engineering skills to try to build the largest spaceship possible using only 3 pieces of tape, marshmallows, spaghetti, and one styrofoam cup.  The winning group was 28.75 inches.  It was fun to see how well students worked together.

Working Out And Having Fun

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

So much fun in PE. We’ve been working hard and working out. We’ve played shark games, the mandelorian and successfully delivered baby yoda to the Jedi’s to complete his training and saved the world with our Wonder Woman shields we made in art class. This year has had its challenges in PE with trying to come up with games that are safe, spread out and still have the element of fun and excitement the kids love and have grown to expect. I think the most rewarding thing this month has been every game I’ve come up with I have had students help give me ideas to build off of.

Sixth graders participated in the Renaissance Fair. They researched and wrote about people who lived during the Renaissance. They were also able to learn a dance from that time period.

One Hundred Days

2nd grade celebrated 100's day in good "old" fashion! Students came dressed up like they were 100 years old and some dressed up like you would 100 years ago!
