Working Out And Having Fun

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

So much fun in PE. We’ve been working hard and working out. We’ve played shark games, the mandelorian and successfully delivered baby yoda to the Jedi’s to complete his training and saved the world with our Wonder Woman shields we made in art class. This year has had its challenges in PE with trying to come up with games that are safe, spread out and still have the element of fun and excitement the kids love and have grown to expect. I think the most rewarding thing this month has been every game I’ve come up with I have had students help give me ideas to build off of.

Winter Art and Poetry

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

Mrs. Gonzalez class along with the other 4th grades has learned to write diamanté poems. We had a fun and beautiful snowflake art project to go with the Snow poem. Some Diamonte  poems start and end the same. Others choose to make them end opposite. Either way we get lost of fun practice using adjectives, verbs, & nouns.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on
The past few weeks 3rd grade has been celebrating one of our nation's heroes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We haven been working on writing our own biographies about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and added a fun "pop art" project to portray this great man! The prompt that they responded to was, "How has Martin Luther King Jr. changed our world for the better?" It's been a really fun couple of weeks learning about all he did for our nation, and his fight for equality. He truly did change our world for the better and is a bright example of kindness and bravery to stand up for what is right.

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on

This week in second grade, students are learning to tell time! Students were working hard learning to read time to the hour and to the half hour. Students noticed that the hour hand is always half way between the hours when the minute hand is on the 30!

Science!!!

Submitted by sarah.ledingham on
This year the science core for first grade changed and we have all been enjoying it!  We get to discover and experiment with different things.  This month we are learning about light and sound.   Last week, we experimented with sound and learned that  vibrations make sound and sound creates vibrations.  This week we were experimenting with light.  The students were asked to make a small lightbulb illuminate, or light up.  They could only use the supplies that were on the table.  After much discussion and trial we learned how to make a potato battery
